The Hound of the Baskervilles
by Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle adapted by Steven Canny and John Nicholson
Romsey AODS proudly presents a gloriously funny makeover of the most famous Sherlock Holmes story.
When Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on his estate with a look of terror still etched on his face, Holmes and Watson are summoned from Baker Street to the wilds of Dartmoor to unravel the mysteries surrounding his death and investigate the ancient curse of the Hound of the Baskervilles.
Packed full of verbal and visual comedy, drawing on slapstick, mime, silent movie humour and just plain silliness, this is a classic detective drama wrapped up in a big parcel of laughs and fun.
Will Holmes solve the mystery? Will Watson's moustache stop growing? Will Sir Henry ever find his trousers? For answers to all these questions and more, don't miss the hilarious Hound of the Baskervilles!
Bess Atwell by Candlelight
There is comfort in the familiar. Yet it is precisely when we are most comfortable that we begin to ask questions. Artist Bess Atwell is full of questions: on life, death, love, loss… and how things that at first seem mundane become profound when looked at in a different light.
Residing now in Brighton, Bess grew up in the English countryside in a creative family of songwriters and artists. Whilst her crystalline vocals draw favourable comparisons to the likes of Marika Hackman and Julia Jacklin, her lyrics evoke an imagery that often spins from the pastoral to the abstract. She tends to stay away from traditionally ‘feminine’ imagery, but like Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker, one of her heroes, Atwell uses nature to evoke those themes of conflict.
Making a Killing
by Ben Kernow
Presented by Ha Hum Ah Productions
The ropes are ready, the crowd is waiting and the hangman has a new apprentice. When Claus Kohler is apprenticed to Frantz Schmidt, Nuremberg’s seasoned executioner, the two men are thrown together in a world where duty, morality and power collide, and every decision leaves a mark. But as the gallows fill and suspicion takes root, their fates become dangerously entwined, until both must decide who they are and which side of the rope they stand on.
Performed by just two actors, Making a Killing is a razor-sharp, dark comedy about justice, corruption and the cost of survival in a world disturbingly like our own. Bold, biting and impossible to ignore, the play takes inspiration from The Journal of Master Franz Schmidt, Public Executioner of Nuremberg (1573–1617), a remarkable historical record that lays bare the humanity and contradictions of a man who killed for a living.

We Will Rock You: Young@Part
presented by the British Theatre Academy and the Minack Theatre Music and Lyrics by QUEEN Story and Script by Ben Elton Young@Part Edition adapted by Marc Tumminelli and originally workshopped at Broadway Workshop in NYC
We Will Rock You is a high-octane, adrenaline-fueled musical featuring more than 20 iconic Queen hits, including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions,” “Somebody to Love,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and of course, “We Will Rock You.” Set in a post-apocalyptic future where individuality has been outlawed and music is controlled by algorithms, the story follows two young revolutionaries who dare to defy the system to save rock ‘n’ roll.
This fist-pumping, foot-stomping anthem to freedom and self-expression is a musical for our time — unapologetically bold and filled with the timeless power of Queen’s legendary music.
We Will Rock You Young@Part® is an authorised 60-minute edition of the West End musical for schools and youth group performances.
